About the event
K9Sensus in association Dog Day Acres Land & Cattle Company has designed this training opportunity to enhance the understanding, skill, and confidence of K9 teams competing in nosework.
We are happy to welcome nose work enthusiasts no matter their training methodology or preferred competition venue to learn more about themselves and their K9 partner. All we ask is that you come with an open mind. We work with dogs that are already on odor from novices preparing for their first Odor Recognition Test to dogs that have earned titles at all levels.
This all-inclusive sleepover is open to all appropriate dog and handler teams as well as auditors. We will concentrate on taking various foundation skills and incorporating the elements into new and highly distracting environments, increasing the K9 teams confidence regardless of interest in competition.
We will highlight foundation skills and incorporate all levels of exteriors, interiors, container and vehicle searches, improving skills for dogs already working the four required elements, building independent search skills, competition preparation, strategy, handler skills, leash handling techniques, understanding how to read the dogs, motivation and reinforcement, trouble shooting and a variety of other necessary skills.
PLUS unique sets of distractions including miniature goats, miniature donkeys, cows, cats and natural distractions located on an active working farm. Each day includes working dogs with a few lectures, demonstrations, all in an intimate setting so you receive extensive coaching from instructors.
Handlers Arrive: Friday late afternoon, June 4, 2021. We start at 0830 Saturday morning with a required orientation.
